| Karen Pearson first peeped through the lens when a high school art teacher in Rochester Hills, Michigan introduced her to photography. Thus began a passionate desire to shoot, which took her first to Parson's summer photography program, then on to New York's acclaimed School of Visual Arts. Seeing the opportunities that lay before her, Karen decided to stay in New York to pursue a career in fashion photography. She spent the next years soaking in every aspect of the art, working as an assistant for important photographers like Nigel Parry and Michel Comte. Karen's now been shooting for more than 10 years, living in Milan briefly before settling down in New York. She has no plans to slow down. When she's not shooting fashion and beauty in the city, she's travelling to locales like Cuba and Kosovo, where she taught photography to teens in war-torn Mitrovica. Karen splits her time between her flat in New York City and farmhouse in the Hudson Valley of Upstate New York, and lives with her husband, son and energetic Jack Russell Terrier, Ella. Karen has worked for Alloy, Blender, Bust, Elegant Wedding, Essence, Elemental, Family Circle, Fitness, Glamour, Good Housekeeping, HarperCollins, Health, InStyle, Latina, Ladies Home Journal, More, Natural Health, New York Magazine, Newsweek, Parenting, People, Philadelphia Home, Philadelphia, Prevention, Redbook, Self, Seventeen, Surface, Time Out, Weight Watchers, Woman's Day, and Workman Publishing. |
